Why We Started Babylosophy

A little story about soggy socks, British weather, and finding the right pair of wellies.

Let’s be honest — British weather isn’t exactly known for being predictable. One minute it’s sunny, the next you’re knee-deep in puddles outside Tesco with a toddler refusing to wear their shoes.

That’s more or less how Babylosophy began. Not in a boardroom, not with a five-year plan, but with a soggy pair of socks and a very muddy pair of trousers.

The Great Welly Hunt

We were looking for something simple: a decent pair of rain boots for our little one.

Not plastic buckets with cartoon prints, not stiff-as-cardboard ones that fall off mid-run — just something well made, comfortable, and able to handle a proper downpour.

Surprisingly hard to find, actually.

After a few disappointing buys (and more than one tantrum at the doorstep), we decided to try something different: design our own. From scratch. Based on what real families actually need. No fluff, no faff.

Built for Real British Weather

We’re a UK-based brand, which means we know what autumn school runs and soggy park days feel like.

So when we created our first collection — the Morden Rain Boots — we made sure they could handle the job:

  • Properly waterproof (no mystery leaks after 10 minutes outside)
  • Easy for kids to get on and off themselves
  • Wipe-clean, rinse-ready — no need for special treatment
  • A bit of style, because practicality doesn’t have to be boring

And yes — they’re called Morden, not modern.

It’s a nod to the park where it all began, not a design trend. Though frankly, we do think they look rather good.

They’re not fashion statements. They’re wellies that work. That’s it.

What We Believe (and Why It Matters)

We called it Babylosophy because — let’s face it — raising kids comes with its own philosophy.

Every family does things differently, and that’s fine. But we all deserve tools that are thoughtfully made and honestly priced.

We care about what we make because we’re not just selling to strangers — we’re building something we’d actually use in our own homes.

These boots have survived muddy playgrounds, last-minute dashes to nursery, Sunday walks in the woods, and one particularly soggy forest school session that ended with a carrier bag full of wet clothes and a very happy child.

What’s Next?

This blog will be a mix of stories, parenting wins and fails, and a few helpful bits we’ve learned along the way (mostly the hard way).

Thanks for joining us on this little adventure — and if you’ve got a rainy-day snap with our boots, tag us @babylosophy.official. We’d love to see your explorer in action.

Stay Dry.
